I live on the edge of Dartmoor in Devon with my husband Alex and our two children, Felix and Lucian. We enjoy tramping around the countryside and hanging out at the beach and on local rivers.  At home we try and grow our own vegetables but it is a big battle against the outsize slugs that thrive around here.  We love cooking and eating.  Read about life in Devon here.

I work both as a local reporter for the BBC, and as a freelance writer. I’ve been with the BBC for around fifteen years in a variety of reporting and producing roles in both radio and television.  My writing is mostly for national newspapers, on various subjects including life in the country,  parenting, health and the family. I have contributed to the Daily Telegraph and the Guardian, and you can see some of my articles here.

I am also involved in the Ways With Words literary festival at Dartington near Totnes, chairing sessions with writers.

I grew up in Oxfordshire, the eldest of four children, with three younger brothers. I went to a comprehensive school before studying French and Philosophy at Oxford University.
